Ketek’s hidden gem: Custom fabrication

Ketek Group: Custom fabrication

We can design and build just about anything

By Mark Hoggard
Manager of Support Services, Ketek Group

When people think about Ketek, they likely think about a provider of oilfield services, perhaps, or of water-pumping expertise, or of our rental equipment. But Ketek is, in fact, much more than even the sum of those parts (as you can tell from surfing this website).

But there’s one hidden gem at Ketek in particular that I’d like to talk about, and that is our ability to design and fabricate just about anything.

“Our small size and nimbleness means we have the ability to fabricate low-volume, custom work and even one-offs. Maintaining low overhead costs allows us to offer competitive pricing for the work we produce.”

Fabrication shop

We have a 7,700-square-foot fabrication shop (CWB-certified to CSA W47.1, W59 & AWS D1.3) where we process and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium. We’ve also worked with rare and exotic metals, such as Hastelloy nickel alloy, which is highly resistant to chemical and heat damage. Our equipment includes a 50-tonne ironworker, a 10” horizontal band saw, a 10’ shear machine, two 7.5-tonne cranes, 6’ x 12’ CNC Plasma Table and a state-of-the-art brake press. Investing in this suite of equipment ensures we keep almost all of our processes in-house, allowing us to keep our pricing competitive. We use this facility, our equipment and expertise to fabricate skids, incinerators, hose reels, jockey boxes, pump control systems and much more for Ketek.

Custom fabrication

We also build a vast array of custom items for clients. If you already have a design in mind, great, we happily accept everything from napkin sketches to complete fabrication drawings. If not, we can help you realise your design from the ground up.

3d model - fabrication

We can develop and provide you with drawings and even a 3D model of your design to aid with pre-approval.

fabrication - 3d preview

You can view your design prior to fabrication, so you can gain an accurate visual representation of what it will look like before we fabricate it.

Fabrication - Engineering Certificate

We can also provide engineering certification and inspection of the final product.

And we’re much more than just a welding shop. Ketek is a diverse company so we can offer fittings, forming, engineering and electrical services in-house. We also have our own dedicated sandblasting bay and paint booth, meaning we’re a one-stop shop with a single markup. And, of course, all our facilities fall within Ketek’s ISO 9001 certification, ensuring a quality build.

And even this is just a beginning of what we have and can achieve in our fabrication shop.

We also manufacture many of our own products, parts and accessories, often for a lower cost than buying the similar product direct from a vendor, some examples of these would include, electrical cabinets, riser pipes, equipment mounting brackets and trailer tail light enclosures.

Our small size and nimbleness means we have the ability to fabricate low-volume, custom work and even one-offs. Maintaining low overhead costs allows us to offer competitive pricing for the work we produce. So get in touch with me anytime to see if there’s something we can do for you.
